CREATING MY OWN WORLD
Hi,
My name is Leonie. Leonie, Myala? I don’t see the link. Well to be honest, there is none. Myala was my favourite character from a videogame that I used to play. It is a name that I use on a daily basis while gaming, So it made sense to me and it sounded right.
But hey, why and when did we start to crochet? The why is simple, one day I got bored and thought to myself that it would be cool to start a new hobby. Creativity runs through my family and basically through my veins. My mom is a big inspiration as she is the best knitter, crocheter and seamstress I know.
So I went to the store, bought some basic crochet equipment and started crocheting. My first creation was an Amigurumi octopus and I never stopped creating Amigurumi since.
In 2020 I had an accident that changed my life. I had to recover 1 year during the C pandemic. I couldn’t go to work and got stuck at home. Traveling between the hospital, physical therapy and my couch, was pretty life draining. So I tried picking up crocheting again. Due to the nerve damage in my right arm, I had to find a new way to crochet. It took me a while but I got the hang of it and started crocheting like never before. I definitely could say that crochet helped me through recovery. I could create my own world with my own little Amigurumi friends. And it helped me coop with everything going on in my life at that point. With my nose in a crochetbook and mind on the project, everything around me just vanishes.
Now 4 years later I am still crocheting and can share my love for handmade plushies with my 11 month old daughter. The best plushie-cuddle-tester in the world!
In my shop I’ll primarily focus on my patterns, as creating takes me way longer then an average crocheter. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t find some creations in my store popping up whenever I got time to make them.
My Amigurumi plushies are made with lots of love and care so please take good care of my little friends when you adopt one!
I hope you enjoy the world that I created as much as I do.
Thank you.
With love,
Leonie
